Over the years greater concern and focus has been placed on the
global water crisis. Over 80 countries are currently suffering from a shortage of water
and it is now threatening the quality of life for many people.
Urban, gardening and individual water demands are also escalating
on a daily basis. Water supplies cannot support the growing demand of the continuously
developing cities. Climate change has also become a major concern which is largely
contributing to the current water shortage.
An immediate solution would be the reuse or recycling of Greywater,
a non-industrial wastewater generated from urban activities such as bathing and laundry;
as well as desalination of seawater and more/other. This could result in a win-win situation,
assuring large savings on tap water consumption and an economically viable solution.
The implementation of new solutions is vital when improving the management and
allocation of our water resources. |
