Over the years great concern and focus has been placed on the global water crisis. Over 80 countries are currently suffering from a shortage of water and it is now threatening the quality of life for many people.
Urban, gardening and individual water demands are also escalating on a daily basis. Water supplies cannot support the growing demand of the continuously developing cities. Climate change has also become a major concern which is largely contributing to the current water shortage.
An immediate solution would be the reuse or recycling of Greywater, a non-industrial wastewater generated from urban activities such as bathing and laundry; as well as desalination of seawater and brackish water. This could result in a win-win situation, assuring large savings on tap water consumption and an economically viable solution. The implementation of new solutions is vital for improving management and allocation of our water resources.
