The urban sector is a main water consumer that requires better water interfaces
including lower consumption and effective water recycling processes. As water prices rise and water
scarcity increases, producing new water resources is economically viable as well as being environmentally
important. Today government agencies, local municipalities and other relevant sources need to seriously
consider new and effective ways to better manage available water resources. More thought needs to be
given to the irrigation of public gardens and open spaces, water usage when cleaning urban centers and
better sewage management processes. More thought is required when gathering wastewater resources
from cooling towers, air conditioning and rain harvesting etc.
Sewage treatment also requires a comprehensive process to remove physical, chemical and biological contaminants. Its objective is to produce a waste stream (or treated waste matter) and a solid waste suitable for discharge or reuse back into the environment.
The most innovative technology for biological sewage treatment is the membrane-activated sludge process. It's a combination of the well-known activated sludge process with active biomass in combination with ultra filtration membranes for the separation of biomass and treated wastewater. The small footprint of MBR systems, and the high quality effluent produced, makes them ideally suited for sewage treatment.
Irricycle provides the knowledge and experience to effectively manage the treatment of all urban water resources.
